Think about the debt if the country went into rescission and we did nothing...

Surplus they will come back in time. It's what many experts are saying, We can rebuild in no time once out of the global recession or this year.. More then likely the rebuilding phase will start in 2010. And what's $9500 ?. Pay more in tax per year.
Anyhow I'll take the debt if it helps rebuild country Victoria and Queensland flood victims towns and lives.

You do realize that this "temporary" deficit as Wayne Swan likes to call it is expected to run 4+ years according to treasury. It is probably more but that is the maximum that it forecasts. In a little under 18 months this government have turned a (4 year) $80 billion surplus into a $118 deficit. They started the rot in the run up to the election, continued with it thru the first 1/2 of 08 and now we are all expected to pay for their stupidity. :bang:

To everybody who voted for the ****ers - a very big and sarcastic Thank you very much!

I'm gonna do what the government doesn't want me to do. Transfer it all into my savings account except for about $16 of it, which i'll use to buy a 6 pack of Coopers Pale Ale to celebrate my new wad of cash in my house deposit savings account lol.

I know i should be helping my country stimulate it's economy to try and HELP ease the recession strain, but i'm sorry, i'll need a house to live in one day, i have to look after MYSELF as well as my country, i spend enough as it is already, i'm not gonna go and blow $950 on crap when it would bump up my house desposit savings by another $1000 almost.

Sit on hands? He just wants to spend half the stimulus now. Save the rest for when the fire really needs the water. Makes perfect sense. Us spending isn't going to help our economy when the rest of the world is going arse up. No issue with any part of the package except the cash handouts. Surely even you can see that by getting $900 now and repaying $9000 isn't good for you or anybody else.

When i suggested we go easy and wait till the shits hits the fan, It wasn't accepted very nicely. Now it's all of a sudden a great idea:D..

You know the rebates. Someone also has to pay for them;)...

Paying a debt per person sounds like the world is caving in. But realistically we are always paying off debt...
