    Hi All,
We are updating from our Berina to a VE Sv6 6cyl.
The 3 choice's we have are:

2007 Black 130,000k's 19"wheels prof lowered Manual.. long rego.. Owner a sales rep.

2007 Orange 80,000k's stock Semi Auto. long rego.. Owner family man had baby seat in back.

2006 Orange 130,000k's 20"wheels prof lowered, Semi auto.. one month rego.. Has twin Exhaust but dont know what sort. Owner Sales rep.

All wanting same price.. Manual $500 more.

Any help or thoughts would be appreciated..

    Thanks.

if you go manual, you will fork out 2k on a new clutch if its stock in the near future.. id opt for the low km's aswell.. what are they worth anyway?? around the 20k mark?

how bad do you want manual? I like manual.... always had manual (until this VE, which is auto). havent looked back. if you got kids in the back or will otherwise be doing a lot of driving (especially city stop start), go the auto.

also, black is a pain to keep clean.

50,000km is a lot of extra driving, so I'd go for the 80,000km family man car.

Second one, family man's car, low km's, +50k is a lot more, and as he got a baby, surely he will be driving the car carefully..no rash driving

Second one for sure. Less likely to be thrashed, lower K's and probably a better investment IMHO

    Hi All,
Firstly; Wow and thank you for all of your response's.. It is great to see you have some where for help. As buying a car is a big deal, even if it only for a few $..

I have had a phone call back to see a 2007 Manual, Orange( yes Ignitionsv6 My family is with you on the colour), 90k's, for 20k.. Teacher no Kids..

$500 more than the Black 2007 Manual..

Monday is coming up fast.. will let you know of any other offer's...

@UFO.. I was looking forward to having the semi auto.. Lazy day drives in auto to Passing lazy day drivers using manual to get to kids Sport... haha.. Girlfriend wants manual.. and she better looking than the car.. haha.. But ends up all about the $ to K's ratio..

My 2 cents is, if your putting your family in the car, you need the most reliable one, that's not an option. Low km's is best, so is regular servicing. If those are your only options, then in my opinion, chase the semi auto orange with the lower km's. And your missus will love it no matter what flavour it comes in, they have a style of their own.

I was in the exact same situation mate.... mrs and I really wanted a manual, but the International Sportwagons didnt come in manual. Very happy with the auto now though... mind you the cars you are looking at have a different gearbox to mine. New drivetrain came in the later models, and from all accounts a big difference. Test drive them all and see how you go.

Mate if that manual that's done 90thou drives well and is up to date with services, run with that one. It's a car that deserves a manual box, in my opinion (albeit a better manual box than the one it has) but unless you're driving in bumper-to-bumper traffic 100% of the time, grab the manual for the fun factor.

And bright colours are cool - don't let anyone tell you different! lol

    Thank TinSinps.
Have tested a semi auto, so after the exchausting phone calls. If this Orange Manual works out. (fingers crossed) it will be the one.
will post a photo of it soon..

As we started looking 3 weeks ago and the 13 and 14 yearolds saw this orange one... It was the one they were convinsed on.. Had no response from them for over a week and a half, then last night out of no where a phone call over it..

Has to be an omen.. the car picks you right?????

Not to get to hippy like...

I know that I am joining this thread belatedly, but I have two things to say.

Mileage can be very deceiving. A low mileage car may have done lots of short trips, whereas the high mileage car may have done many less cold starts because each trip is much longer. A point in question are taxis, which go forever because they do not do many cold starts for their mileage.

A reps car that is manual is almost certain to have done the bulk of its travel in the country, i.e. good kilometres and not too many cold starts. A family car is more likely to have done more cold starts and short trips.

Notwithstanding the above, I would always buy a manual. Have driven all the latest and greatest autos on work vehicles, and would never buy one. I am well into the "oldie" class, and still have no qualms driving a manual in peak hour Sydney traffic. If you like driving manuals, buy a manual.

Keep looking - don't know if you can set up updates on carsales or anything, but there's SV6s popping up continuously, it seems! The right one will show up, mate.

Hi Mate, don't know how your car search is going but hopefully you will be test driving plenty.

For my two cents worth, buy an auto. You can use manual select with the auto anyway and my mate has just had $2500 dollars worth of clutch replacement done at 120,000km.

Seems like his wife liked to hold it on their steep driveway just with the clutch.

I admit I have always had manual cars and there is something about a manual being more of a "drivers car", but since I've had this auto I think it is the best compromise between both auto and manual.

Whichever way you go, I know you'll love it!

Good luck finding what you're after mate!
