I have Redbacks without the steel caps Steel caps freeze you toes when you work in minus 20 degrees.

i work for the railways we have just swapper from olivers to steel blue(about 12 months ago), the olivers were heavy and didnt take to the wear and tear and the stitching kept tearing open werent really water tight either. steel blues have been great so far water tight and the boots we have have a heavier duty rubber coated steel toe cap oposed to the pathetic thin layer of puss oliver put over there boots and we really give our boots a hard time walk miles on ballast rock always kicking ballast rocks and steel and always walking on hot thermit welds (they still melt a bit but not as bad as olivers)
This is just my experience with our boots
Red Back lace ups also weigh a tonne

i wore olivers AT's (all terrains) for a good 15 months before i needed a new pair..great boots, recently just bought a pair of steel blues because the lady at the workwear shop said they are great for spending all day in on a hard floor..as i do, been wearing them for about 4 months now and had no troubles..you pay a bit more for them but its well worth it in my opinion as the technology is in the sole. Also find the steel blues are a lighter and wider fitting boot then the olivers which is good for me because my foot is pretty wide. Both are steel cap lace ups..hate slip on's

been through a few different brands
redback were great, didn't mind the extra weight (i like chunky shoes anyway) but the springy sole took a bit of getting used to. were awesome for long period too. could walk through ANYTHING and never went ass up.
yakka are pretty good for cheapies, was a car detailer at one point so i spent my workday soaked to the skin and they lasted about 6 months
new job meant new boots, this time went with mongrel low cut (like a normal shoe but had steel caps) they've lasted nearly 2 years now, but they've been replaced only to go back to full size boots.
now have a pair of bisleys, only worn them a few times so can't give an accurate assessment
all mine have been laceup and have never been treated nicely. they're a work boot. treat em like **** i say

Bluesteel or steel blue or whatever, expensive as all hell but the most comfy boots ever, I swear I will never wear blundstone again.

The first day I put them on I felt like I could go for a run in them and ive never felt like running in steel toe boots before.

Have had most brands and found redback to be the best by far.
