Reading through this thread, I noticed some comments about people having manual licences....Yes, I got my manual licence in QLD...The ex-misses got an auto licence in QLD....We moved to S.A and all of a sudden she was allowed to drive a manual...

The same rules still apply to this day in this silly state....Get your licence by driving an auto and you can drive anything.

As for what transmission to use....Personally I drive a 5 speed every day, to and from work....The service van is 5 speed....I also have auto cars, which I enjoy driving when I feel a little lazy....However the majority of the time, I enjoy driving a manual transmissioned car...

for me its an auto all the way unless it was in a weekender and the occasional track day. i drive a truck all day so when i get in my own car i want to relax a bit and enjoy the ride. changing gears a million times a day in melbourne traffics enough for me, let the car do it on the way home.

Drags......Auto for the win, but a manual is still a load of fun
Circuit Racing....Manual
Daily Driving
Daily bumper to bumper traffic......Auto
Darwin traffic.....Manual or auto, I've had both. I prefer a manual though as I like to be in control of what's going on
