VS exec also, has about 320,000K i mean a little love and care and this car is running awesome!!!
I mean a retune of the memcal, slight rebuild, water pump, alternator, fuses, rebuilt tranny! pumps and cables, and radiator, etc etc etc
I mean I personally think it's worth the money and time spent on an older car, I love the VS, I cannot fault it!!! people will argue the VN-VP will always out last, but fact of the matter is there just to similar of a car, and even the engine, I mean buick and ecotec are still children of the original arn't they?
I personally think it comes down to how much you put into it, and how much you take care of your car as to how it'll last!
same goes for my other car, VH original blue 6, and mate it still rides like a dream..

VS II 5 ltr Berlina Wagon
...about 215,000 ks here in our 5 litre and both engine and trans are still going strong. I do go that extra stretch and change both oil and filter every 5,000 k's and trans oil every 20,000k's. Touch wood and so far in 7 years I have only had to replace the pwr steering and water pump, alternator brush set, cruze/indicator stalk (for cosmetic reasons) rear muffler and in a couple of days the a/c filter and TX valve.

    vt commodore acclaim
i have a s1 vt acclaim and i bought the car off my uncle, it has 217000k;s now it's never had services kept up it and my uncle used to thrash it everywhere he bought the car new and he never looked after it, i have only had it since 212000 and it has just done the radiator, water pump, thermostat, crank angle sensor, and the airbag light came on which was the seat belt pretensioner or something, so i think the motor is built to last but the car isn't my vt has a lot of rust in it especially around the front and back windscreens and behind the front guards, that is very poor considering the car spent 10 years out in broken hill which is dry and arid as

    Beg to disagree!

I bought a new VS II Manual V6. It has been in the family since, now well past 200K, with one of my sons now using it. Service consumerables have been changed, but the only other things that have required attention have been as follows:

    1. Two sets of brake pads.

    2. Overhauled alternator.

    3. Replacement aircon compressor.

    4. Replacement clutch.

I think that is most acceptable for twelve years. Certainly does not indicate a planned expiry date. I have been driving cars for over forty years. My VSII and VYII have been much more reliable and durable than the cars I owned in the sixties, seventies, eighties and nineties.

I have confidence of the same from my VE.

Used to have a Vs s2 exec, bought at 200,000 sold at 260,000. i replaced front rotors and all the brake pads, new shocks and bushes on the front end new shocks on rear.. new heater hoses.... thats bout it i think.... but at 240,000 the auto trance started to slip when it was cold, but after about 5 mins of driving whent like a rocket!

Now have a vs s2 acclaim with a manual, has 145,000 on the clock, has been absoloutely thrashed by my cousin (previous owner) has new clutch, reco lsd.. engine souds like it has a noisy lifter or something, but i will see how it goes over the next few years...

seen over 400000k on a vn wagon. it was running sweet. paint was faded interior smelt like a dog and the shocks were buggered but other then that it was ok. i rekon as long as you service and maintain them regularly and take it for long drives itll go forever.
or you could be like me and he oil pump stuffs up and just ignore the fact the motor doesnt get oil to it then thrash it for another 300 odd ks to see if i could actually blow up one of those old buick engines then you stuff your motor...fast

The most I have ever seen was some news article with a fella with a VS exec that had done a whopping 700000kms with the only major repairs being a replacement fuel pump and transmission. Thats insane distance for a fairly old car in my opinion.

I know of a VP wagon just passed 500,000 a couple of weeks ago. Has had 2 new clutches, CAS and a new radiator, but shes still going strong. The guy who owns it absolutely thrashes it (he has owned it for over 4 years and a hundred thousand ks now). Oil and filters every 5000ks, and it still gets him to work daily. Interiors pretty rough though, the doors sag a bit and it smells of slightly burnt grassclippings inside.
