Just in the process of rebuilding a T5 gearbox (came out of a VN V6) for my project car.

Just wondering if anyone on here knows what purpose this large peice of metal does on the clutch fork? and is it worthwhile cutting it off?

Its a dampener. I trimmed mine back a bit in my old vp. Cos the rest of the car vibrated like crazy anyway. Didn't notice much difference after

Ive never seen another clutch fork with it, can it be cut off completely? the gearbox specialist thought it should be ok

My Fiance's VN T5 doesn't have that, I have just done a manual conversion on a VR 5.0L as well and it didn't have one either.

I've only seen them on vp and early vr v6's. Looks like a vibration dampener to me. Doesn't serve any other purpose in the bellhousing anyway
