Have a Vf 2 SS with stock 18" wheels. Will a set of VE/VF staggered 20" Versus wheels fit ok? This probably sounds dumb but see most are sold as a set of four so in case of a flat could i use my spare 18" even if it's just to get to the closest repair place or would i need to also get a spare 20"

Spare 20" wheel needed, you can't run different diameter wheels on your car legally.

You can use your 18 inch rim with the OEM tyre as a spare as they are close enough in overall diameter to get you out of trouble.

There are plenty of cars with staggered sizes where the manufacturer offers only one size spare to do the job as long as it’s only used as a short term fix.

Space saver spares are a good example of this.

The OEM tyre sizes for the SS 18 inch and Redline staggered 20 inch are as follows:

SS Front & Rear - 245/45R18
Overall diameter = 660.4mm

Redline Front - 245/35R20
Overall diameter = 666.1mm

Redline Rear - 275/30R20
Overall diameter = 660.1

The general rule with tyres fitted to different size rims is the side wall changes in height but the overall dimeter stays much the same.

Plenty of cars out there that will come with a smaller steely as its spare.

I'd be more worried about running a different rolling diameter with an LSD for long periods of time though.

RE the Versus wheels, will depend on width and offset, but if they came off a VE in the first place you're probably set.

You are right, I found this article on RACQ site:

http://www.racq.com.au/cars-and-driving/cars/owning-and-maintaining-a-car/car-maintenance/temporary-use-spare

It makes sense though if you match the rolling diameter you'd be technically able to get to a garage.

I've put staggered 20's on my VF, and have kept the 18 inch alloy as my spare. Mine are 255/35's, and the overall height is roughly the same as the 18 inch wheel.

As others said if they came off a VE they should fit the VF though best to try them first. I have some staggered Lenso's on mine and you could barely fit a toothpick between the back caliper and the spokes on the wheel.
