Of course it depends on the car, obviously later model cars suit bigger wheels. But for a first gen like the VH, I love the VL Walkinshaw wheels. They look the correct scale for the car and have negative offset (crucial for early model cars IMO)

it's the only wheels I've ever bought. Originally bought them new for my previous VH almost 20 years ago.
I've gone to considerable lengths to keep them as I wanted a big brake upgrade (330mm rotors). I managed to just squeeze VN Grp A 330mm rotors and calipers under the wheels with just a mm or 2 to spare. Would have been much easier and cheaper to buy a set of 17's and buy a new set of PBR calipers, but I didn't want to give up the wheels.

Great looking car Darren, wheels really suit it, very nice.

Are you sure they were 7" rears and not 8" rears? i thought 235 were max for a 7". I remember i had 14x7 (12 slotters) on the front of my XY and was running 235's 60 series. Rears were 8" running 295's.

Absolutely sure, they were 245/60/14 on 7 inch, they only "JUST" fit....
The tyre fitter wasn't sure either till he fit thematic full travel under standard guards, they didn't have much room left, one up one down you had 2 mm clearance on the wheel arch......

In the early 90s I had 245/50/14s on 7 inch rims on my VB.

At the moment I'm loving my 18x8 Cheetahs

Dunno what these 15s are but they suited nicely on 225/50r15s:

But wanted bigger better tyres so going with the 18 inch ROH R/Ts I got from my VP SS that I sold.

I've always loved the look of my champage VT GTS rims against the colour of my ute.
