Your local dealer may very well have changed the classification from Demo to Used but that is not true with every dealer as one can tell with the above image.

All that I have listed, with a couple of exceptions possibly, are classified as DEMO. You will note that I have not included any from Peter Page Holden in the above lists. It is interesting though, although Peter Page Holden refers to their vehicles in the image you provided as being USED, one of these, classified as USED, has the following included as a part of the vehicle's description:

**** BRAND NEW RUNOUT SALE, FITTED WITH FACTORY 20 WHEEL AND TYRE PACKAGE We are a family owned and operated, multi-award winning Holden Dealership specialising in the sale of new Holden vehicles for over 40 years. Having been awarded Market Share Leader by Holden from 1990 - 2012, we continue to grow as a company and pride ourselves on giving outstanding customer service to all our customers. We also have an experienced Lending Manager on site offering Flexible Lending Packages to suit every budget through St. George Adelaide and within 15 minutes can have a Pre-approval on your next new or demo vehicle. Our trading hours are; Mon-Wed 8.30 - 6.00pm Thursday 8.30 - 8.00pm Friday 8.30 - 5.30pm Saturday 8.30 - 4.00pm Your enquiry is important to me, so let me help you get into your Brand New Car!

Obviously, even Peter Page Holden has a problem in how to describe a NEW CAR as a USED CAR!

Carsales mostly does not include the VIN, (or if it does, only an abbreviation) which is atrocious as this is the identity of the vehicle. Most private sellers opt not to include the VIN and one has to question why.
Not sure why but about 6 months ago all new vf2 stock went to the used section, they had about 14 redlines 2 mse at the time from memory.

In my experience, that "Attadale" dealer can be very inflexible on price, i.e. pay what we want for it or someone else will.....eventually.

Local dealer put there new/demo stock in to used dept ages ago, the one on right is brand new less than 20kms(left is 2nd hand)[/ATTACH]
View attachment 202922
The one on the right is an SS (not Redline despite what the ad says) but is $2k more than the one on the left which is a Redline?? - is it their careless advertising or maybe difference in mileage?
EDIT...sorry just read the last bit of your post again which would explain the price difference but it is obviously not a Redline all the same.

Is it just price that has kept so many VF2's unsold, or is it that nobody is interested anymore?

Bit of both I'd say. We had enough lead-in time to factory closure that people planned their purchase up to the last minute, and snapped them up in the expectation that they would all sell in five minutes (as the dealers were touting). So the ones that wanted one got one ages ago. Now they (dealers) are stuck with cars that are effectively two years old in the minds of buyers and they are still asking close to RRP for them, and way over in some cases.

It's ridiculous - when has anyone paid that sort of money for an obsolete car? Perhaps that sounds cruel as we all love them, but it's a fair conclusion in the automotive world. Would anyone be happy to pay RRP for a 2yr old Toyota etc?

The advantage Holden had of the 'emotion' of buying the 'last V8's' has absolutely waned and people have moved on. It's the fickle world we live in.

I personally also suspect that overly optimistic sales projections lead to over-production as well. They should have made a lot more utes (try finding one of those now) and less sedans it seems.

Honestly, if they want to move them given that we are now into 2019, mid to late 40's should be absolutely tossed about for an SSVR (to use an example ). Reality has to bite them at some point.

^ and to pour salt on our wounds, GM generally sold the Chevy SS built in good ol’ OZ with more features than the home versions for less. Worse was that GM had a 2017 runout discount of I think 30% on the last of the Chevy SS’ shipped to the USA. And these discounted units had a few extras the MSE didn’t.

We just get shafted at every turn

Eagers in Bris still has a LMF GTSR for $119 888 and a few Clubbies incl a tourer, also a Senator...all in the high 80s & 90s...I reckon HSVs at these prices are going to be even harder to get rid of from here on..

VF MY17 Series 2 Redline - Red Hot
John McGrath Ford in Canberra still has a 'used' Black Motorsport edition with 12km on it for $77k.

edit: It says in the Dealer Comments
The family that bought this car as an investment have re-located overseas and have had to sell this beautiful car. When they picked it up their request was that it had to be as the manufacturer sends it. So all the plastics protections are still on the car. We have cleaned the outside but that is all. The car has not been driven after it left the factory except for on and off the car carrier. It is totally as new, it has never been registered. For your opportunity to own a car that will surely become an Australian classic or to see if finance is the right way for you send an inquiry.

I think it was 20% from memory. They were selling so don't know why GM did that.
