I did a search last night but I still can't find a description of where the knock sensor/s is.
I don't have much time to play tomorrow if I'm going to find my problem, thats why I'm asking instead of searching.
    Cheers

would help if you told us what engine it is?

5.0 is on the drivers side towards the middle/back under the extractors
VR V6 is on the drivers side of the block closer to the front
Not to sure about the ecotec would think it would still be around the same sort of place though.

Edit: and before anyone goes the 5.0 doesnt have knock sensors.. the HSV 5.0 does :p

Either side of the block above the pan rail half way along.

    They look kinda like this.

Might pay to check, but I think they are also the block drain.
This may mean you get wet pulling them out.

The Ecotec has knock sensors that screw into either side of the block around near the engine mount area. There are metal shields around them to protect them from the exhaust heat..

Thanks guys, I need to mess with my knock sensors to see if they are causing my lack of power problem, it feels like a dramatically retarded ignition thing, lets see how I go.

To see if the knock sensors are working, tap the engine block with a hammer with the engine idling. If the knock sensors are working ok, the idle speed will change as the sensors detect the hammer tapping the block.
