Yeah stop start only works under certain conditions once its warmed up. I hate the thing and turn it off every time I get in the car.

... The salesman put it down to the car not being warm enough perhaps haha.
Question: when do you know a salesman is lying?

Answer: his mouth is moving

PS: probably some info within the owners manual on the stop start feature.
In BMW's it works from first key start unless you turn it off.

So just agreed and put down a deposit on a vxr 2018 plate. 8000 ks and all seems good. Couldn’t work out the wireless charging though upon test drive ?? Does your phone have to be paired for it to charge ??? Or can anybody chuck there phone in it and it should charge ??
You should be able to place the phone in the cradle. The Acadia and Equinox works like this and I also think the ZB did this with a Android phone that was placed in the charger while driving it.

I'd love to hear a review from an owner ...

"Hey people" its not a VF or VE or even a BSA. It shouldn't even be a Commodore. It should just have the VXR badge on it, a completely different model. It is value for money with European built quality and technology. I like the ride, the handling and the appointments. I don't see many on the road and this will be a good thing because this (or next) they replace the Commodore brand with (God help you) Cadillac

I sighted a VXR in Rochedale Brisbane today about 1235pm.
On the back it had 2 3 badges
Vxr on right side
Left side had the (is it) HSV motorsport badge and beside it 325.

Hmmmm 325kw?

You obviously missed seeing the Chev badge.

There a lot around Auckland too. Two other owners just a few hundred yards up the road.
Kiwi's really seem to have taken a shine to the ZB.

So my VXR has just passed 11500km on the clock.
  • Oil consumption: zero - still looks in good nick on the dipstick with no discolouration or particles.
  • Average fuel consumption: 10.5L/100km on 91 octane fuel - trust me I don't miss having to hunt for gas stations with 98.
  • The tyres are wearing out a little worse than I'd hoped but more or less what I've been told to expect. It will be due for a service in a couple of months so we'll see what they say because they'll probably do the WoF at the same time. It will also be interesting to see what courtesy car I'm offered if any.
  • The paint has some scratches on it, entirely my fault from trying to remove bird droppings that had baked on from an afternoon in the sun. I'll talk to the Service Centre staff about fixes when I see them.
  • My initial fears about the piano black console surfaces were indeed warranted, but I have a cleaning cloth set aside for removing finger prints so it's not too big a deal.
I'm still impressed with all the things I waxed lyrical about when I initially reviewed it, and it's few foibles that have been uncovered I've found I can live with.

Crippling depreciation and an uncertain future for parts availability aside, it still is a good car and we have not regretted our decision to buy it.
