where can a car be tested legally to know its top speed

i have been on the freeway doing about 90 when a ford that had to be going double my speed flew past my big old 4wd.. then about 20 seconds later this hyperspeed blur of a cop car rocketed past at what i now realize must have been atleast 220 or more.

Judging by his location I'm going to guess he is talking about Perth.

but what are the police going to do if they go past 140 ? pull over the cops with another cop car ?

if they do end up catching them after a150km/h chase there will be all this uproar for the limit to be lifted by 10 km/h
and they will quote that cars now have better stopping power and handling etc to justify the increase in speed..
you know all the things that would make normal driving at that speed safe but when its us that complains we get the cold shoulder
i mean the 110 km/h speed limit has been around for so long the cars back then were absolutely nothing to the ones now as far as safety.
only difference is the volume of drivers on the road but also the roads were not 3 lanes each way 25 odd years ago.

I saw a really interesting highway crash that was caused by a retard not knowing how to safely tow a caravan. Bloody idiot had no idea, he over-corrected every single time until the caravan swung the whole 4WD around. No one was hurt thankfully. The idiot should not have been towing.
