it will struggle. they always do. That will keep up with a factory system only.

A mate has told me not to bother amping the stock speakers and I should upgrade the fronts to some decent two ways, and the rears to a pair of coaxials. Thoughts?

Apologies in regards to my lack of audio knowledge...:embarrass

That's what everyone else hears has told you to do and is what I'm saying. Will give you the worst possible sound.

Replacing the stock speakers only.. Will ultimately result in a higher quality sound at a reduced volume with less bass. The exact opposite of what you want.

Everyone will tell you not to amp the speakers. But everyone always disagrees with me when I suggest something out of the ordinary. That doesn't mean I'm wrong though... After LISTENING to what you had to say... I deduced this.
Sound quality ok
Lack of volume
Tight budget.

That about sum it up?

If it wasn't for the last one... budget... I would tell you to replace all your speakers, put an amp on them and add a sub. Now I know that no one will disagree with me on that.... are they willing to throw some money your way?

Nothing stopping you from replacing.the speakers at a later date.

Some audio shops have a set of factory speakers in their display room (I do) have a listen to them compared to higher quality sets. When you cross over to them you hear the drop in sound quality but hear the volume increase a lot also.

You know I was just referring to a set of front splits and not all four. Was just thinking maybe more like $600.
$280 Focal 165A1 splits
$230 Rockford Fosgate Prime R400 amp
$100 dynamat door kit

Thought they were a bit cheaper but didn't check at the time.

Personally i would go a 4 channel amp and some decent front splits for $500 all up. Have a look at either focals or arc audio.
Sub wise, u can do this at a later stage. Alternatively, check online for second hand ones. I've seen some alpine type r's in boxes go for less than $100. So that could be an option too.

Sooooooooo,

I went for AlpineType S splits/coaxials and a slimline sub/amp combo. I'm very happy, except that now I've tasted clear and clarity, I want a bit more! :)

Can anyone suggest a good bang for buck 4 channel amp for the speakers? :D

Cheers again gents.
