I've got the following supatool set: KINCROME Tools & Equipment - Product Catalogue In addition, I purchased a 3/8" breaker bar to complete the set. In the time I've had it, nothing has broken yet. I really like the fact that I've got both short and long sockets, as well as 6 and 12 point sockets all in the 1 kit. The long sockets have definitely saved my arse a few times.
mate there are heaps of good brands on the aussie market fuller, stanley, cresent, proto, bahco, jbs, kinchrome repco, sidchrome, snap on, caterpillar, minimax, koken, stahwille just off the top of my head. then you get the oddball one where one company will only make 1 or 2 realy good tools at a good price. aok large spanners are cheap and tough, homebrand sidchrome. a mans toy shop 3/4 drive socket sets, have not been able to break them. the best way is to ask someone who is in the know and have a good look at what you plan to buy before handing over the cash. old etc are tough but new etc not so much.
snap on are there only for the warrenty, break it they will replace it hence the reason i payed $380 for a set of deep reach sockets 8mm - 19mm as for ratchets i would say KC, very good brand and reason priced, my ratchet i use day in day out and it still fine, 3 years old now stanley would be the best screw drivers on the market i say, cheap and last years and years KC gets my nod
being only ever owned cheap tools i currently have about 3 tool sets i dont use. My missus bought me a brand new stanley tool kit for my birthday this year$800 trade price ( we have a business account with sprints) i was rapped with the handling of the tools there efficiency and completely faultless and best of all come with a life time replacement warranty, i break it, i take it to sprints and get it replaced on the spot no questions asked.... however i do have a breaker bar i bought from a hong kong shop in parafield about 6 years ago, mainly used for breaking the crankshaft pulley bolts on the vn v6's by turning the key.... u know what i'm talkin bout... ive broken countless sockets but this bar still goin well despite a slight bend and some play.
