Hi Guys.

I am looking to do a permanent mount for my little 12V drinks fridge in the boot of the stato (as I do mostly country driving it would be nice to keep my drinks cool on a long drive)

Where would the best place be in the boot of a VR/VS to tap into a 12V feed to get power for the fridge, would prefer not to have to run a new cable to the front of the car.

Ideally an accessories feed would be best that comes on with ignition but I can deal with a constant feed if I have to (will just unplug when I reach my destination)

I have 2 amps in the boot, I wonder if there is a way I can tap a feed off them.

Any Ideas?

With your amps, it would depend on the size of the cable/how hard you run your system as to if you can tap in. as far as i know there isnt any acc or ign feed in the boot. What size cable you using to run the amps?

2x 8 Gauge.

Only doing baby sony speakers and 1 pioneer amp, nothing stressful (also only basic entry level amps)

Just run a wire off you amp cable to the fridge with a rely wired to the REM wire on your amp to switch the fridge on and off with the key.

I'm really keen to see how you pull this cooler install off.

I'm going to do a boot install (when I get my **** together lol) and might include this.

do you have a link to the cooler you used? so I can buy one too? lol

Yeah, I chose the smallest size as it takes the least time to cool down.....if you have say a 1 hour drive to your destination you wouldn't even get the large one cool before you arrived

Is it too untidy to run a cigarette lighter plug under the rear seat into the cigarette lighter socket on the back of the console? Or maybe a more permanent set up by splicing into the cig. socket and run the wire under the carpet.

iChris, I think the console bin could be insulated and turned into a cool box (in addition to the boot one?) using the guts of one of the Peltier effect fridges, maybe assisted by redirecting the A/C ducts from those for the rear seat passengers.
