Welcome to the forum

Your first car should be the newest smallest underpowered car you can afford. Boring I know but such cars have much much improved passive and active safety features (particularly the strong bodies and pyrotechnics) than much 1/4 century old cars that can kill you in a crash. And they are cheaper to insure for first time or inexperienced drivers and can sip SFA fuel getting your from A to B ;)

Logically it’s better than being squashed like a sardine in a 1/$ century old car if you are unfortunate enough to crash it

Then buy an old VX and clean it up and use it as a weekend sunny day car… just don’t crash it :p

VX, what model VX is it?

Had a VX SS, did over 300K, no worries at all.

First car was a 2001 VX Equipe which I owned for 8 years, second/present car is a 2002 VX Acclaim. Driven most other models as the family are Holden aficionados.
As for the question "VT or VX" they're fundamentally the same really but I've found it's a little easier to find clean VX's that are suitable as a first car, one reason being that VTs are a little older so they've had more time on earth to be driven into the ground and flogged... but if you can find a clean VT with reasonably low Ks, go for it!

VT/VX are pretty much the same car but with VX (especially VX Series II) a lot of the issues were sorted out.

I've had a VS, two VT's, a VX and VY - all ecotecs.

I'd go the VX any day over the VT.

Even though they are essentially the same they seem to be a fair bit nicer to drive and are a bit newer.
