Need some help with choosing a new set of injectors. I have a VR V6 ex cop and I am sure that my average fuel consumption of just 300k's is linked to my injectors need replacing. Can anyone offer some guidence or assistance on whether I should go standard (again), V6 super-charge or after market to both get maximum performance and restore my economy ??

Have you taken the injectors out yet? I would get them looked at, chances are they might just need cleaing. When i replaced the injectors on my celica it cost $450, so unless you got cash to burn seek cheaper means of fixing the old ones.

    Cheers

If you go higher flow injectors your going to throw economy out the window, I used to have 2 sets of injectors for my car, a round town set and a trip set, the trip set were Kelpro high flows great for WOT when overtaking etc but bad for fuel economy, ok on a trip as the highway milage works out i would get about 450km to 90L but around town with the same injectors try 300km. But the standard injectors I would get around town 450km sometimes closer to 500 is I drove more sedate out of a tank

    cheers

Yeah, I would try getting them professionally clean. I think there is some sought of percentage flow rating that they can give you  Let us know how you go. Looking at getting my done soon.

I am trying to find some VS-VY V6 injectors as they are a EV1 style injector, VN-VR are EV6. Also you cant just slap higher flowing injectors in unless you get a tune/remap/chip done for it to run at a lower flow rate. I was looking at L67 injectors but found coulnd just slap em in.

    V6 Injectors are interchangable.

My understanding is that the V6 normally aspirated injectors are interchangable.

I seem to remember something about the later version having what was called a director plate nozzle, which I think is multiple nozzles aimed to hit together to aid vapourisation rathet than just a single nozzle. This type was marginally more efficient and apparently less prone to blockages, i.e needed cleaning less often.

I am less sure when the change was made. I thought that it was with the VT, but may have come with the Ecotach engine.

I would not change the injectors from standard unless it was part of a consolidated upgrade. I would stick with the standard injectors, but get them professionally cleaned. I have heard good reports from that.

The other cause of poor economy that I have heard of is O2 sensors.

Yeh thats what I was talking about, the EV1 and EV6 spray patterns. I'm trying to find some new EV1 style injectors for mine.

Found a old notepad file on my comp with the info I was after:
VN SERIES 1, 8-88 TO 10-90 USES INJECTOR NUMBER 0280150901 WHICH FLOWS 146.3 GPM @ 3 BAR. RESISTANCE 14.5 OHMS.

VN SERIES 2, 11-90 TO 10-91 USES INJECTOR NUMBER 0280150960 WHICH FLOWS 150.5 GPM @ 3 BAR. RESISTANCE 14.5 OHMS.
THESE INJECTORS ARE ALSO FITTED IN THE VG UTE 11-90 TO 10-91, VP COMMODORE 11-91 TO 07-93, VR COMMODORE 06-93 TO 04-95.

VT - VY N/A, 09-97 TO 06-03, USES INJECTOR NUMBER 0280155777 WHICH FLOWS 150 GPM AT 3.5 BAR. RESISTANCE 12 OHMS.

THE VN - VR INJECTORS ARE WHAT IS CLASSED AS AN EV-1 INJECTOR PINTLE TYPE WHICH ARE OPEN TO PROBLEMS WHEN USED AT AN INCORRECT FUEL PRESSURE, HOSING IS A PROBLEM IF PRESSURE IS TOO LOW OR TOO HIGH AND THE PATTERN CAN ALSO BE FORCED TOO WIDE FOR THE TARGET AREA IF PRESSURE IS TOO HIGH.

VT - VY INJECTORS ARE WHAT IS CLASSED AS AN EV-6 INJECTOR WHICH USES A MULTI ORIFICE DIRECTOR PLATE STYLE TECHNOLOGY TO BETTER ATOMISE FUEL ACROSS VARIOUS OPERATING PRESSURES. THESE INJECTORS ALLOW MORE FLEXIBILITY IN RELATION TO OPERATING PRESSURES WITHOUT COMPROMISING SPRAY EFFICIENCY OR FUEL ATOMISATION.
