I found the performance memcal on the mace websight I'm just not sure of what option to chose there is vr (early),and vr (late),how do I figure out if my vr is a early or late model? And do these memcals provide a decent difference to how it runs

When was ecotec released? Before that was the buickV6.
Or if auto, was early a TH700 which had no ecu control, and later was 4L60E full electronic trans.
    What year is yours?

Nov 94 up to april 95 VR's had the hdd 5 trans(same trans that was later fitted to the first run VS) which had tcc lockup, the earlier models didnt....
    edit ps
If your vin number is higher than L772126 then its a late model memcal, if its lower its early

Mine has the 4L60E and it is an early 94. Build dates after Nov 94 are late trans.

What does TCC lockup mean? Because mine is an early and it has torque converter lockup.

I think its electrical(Pcm) controlled rather than pressure speed controlled ....but I know stuff all about trans so could be wrong ;)

Ok yeah mine works through the valve body when it changes up. Early VR ones still have the same part but somehow it does operate differently. I had an issue with error TCC that I had to ask the trans tech about but it has since gone away.
