legally you can not use a old motor in a newer car so black i guess it is......

well i've got a 1979 red block in my vl, the only thing i have to do for rego is put the vl black heads, manifold & carby on and they will pass it ;)

btw i voted the red block, because mine is bored out 80tho ;)

... to answer your question have a look at the head gaskets and make sure there the same layout.. i know u can use vb heads on the vl.. the paterns start to change at the inlet manifold.

all v8 block are basically identical some have a few minor differences but nothing really important unless your looking for a stroker or roller block as old block newer car it wont matter as long as it meets the epa rules for the that car's year
