So I bought a land yacht.

Needed a car to take me to and from the train station once the wife and I stop commuting together next year. Two people commuting, driving/parking is cheaper. One person commuting, train is cheaper.

I figured I may as well try and find a decent, older Holden V8 and if it's in decent condition I can look after it and down the track turn it into a bit of a project car.

Anyhow, found this one in Sydney, had my Dad go check it out for me (he had one identitcal for 3 years as a company car so he knew the car well) and decided to buy it. It's in immaculate condition other than a dent just in front of the fuel filler flap that looks like it was caused by the fuel filler flap, and has a brand new headliner and windscreen. It has just over 103,000km on it. Other than running a dual fuel setup, having a tow bar and slim line weathershields, it's a completely stock WHII LS1 powered Caprice!

All the gizmos and gadgets still work fine as well as both keys and their memory settings.

The only down side is you can't drive it and sit in the back seat at the same time! lol

Cost me $7,500 + they did the tint for me for $330. So total is $7,820. Transferred the cash to Dad and he went and picked it up. It's at his place until I fly up this week to drive it back to Melbourne.

VicRoads total for stamp duty, transfer fee, 12 months rego etc will be: $1,153.50.
Shannons Comprehensive Insurance with $8,000 agreed value: $628.83. A bit high but meh.
And I ordered some new, personalised plates like I always used to have years ago: $436.74.

Oh, and whatever the RWC will cost me...

I'm pretty bloody happy for $10,000!

Taking off that black rubber protective strip on the front and the old mobile phone antenna, and doing a full detail inside and out. Looking forward to it. :D

Yeah I've always liked the WH/WHII as well. I love the curves. When they squared up the front and rear ends in later models it lost is sexiness in my opinion.

Looks like a nice pick up.
