G'day,

Ive tried to do some hunting but havnt got much luck wondering if someone could help me out.

I have a 04 Maloo six speed manual and when in gear and moving it makes one hell of a whine. Very noticeable in lower rev range can barely tap the accelerator and it'll whine like a mother ******

If i put the clutch in and give it a rev (still while moving) there will be no whine so im assuming its not engine related. I have no slipping clutch and it goes through the gears fine

Anyone have an idea what it maybe ?

Cheers

Could be an input shaft bearing. Trying to remember if mine went quite or louder when mine went.

Usually a bearing noise that quitens clutch in is a release bearing but they're more of a rumble until you get the screech going when they're really cooked.

Could be in your diff and be gear mesh or centre side bearings and clutching in is taking enough torque off the rear and noise goes away on coast.

Unless you've got a hoist n a stethoscope I'd be taking to a diff/transmission specialist for an opinion.
