Hey Damo.

It's a pretty easy process. But you need a real steady hand and two people.

Step 1: Jack rear of car up off ground
Step 2: Secure with safety stands
Step 3: Start up car and get your mate to put it in drive with foot on brake
Step 4: Get your paintbrush out (what size depends on size of 'wall' you want
Step 5: Hold brush to tyre and get your mate to let off the brake until you get a full revolution.

The fronts are the same deal, except get your mate to spin the wheel while you hold the brush.

Does that really work, how long does it hold for and what paint?

Sure does. You can high temp engine paint and use that, it will stick for ages. OR vinyl die, it will actually seep into the rubber over time.

why not just have the second person spin the wheel by hand for the rears as well?

Because they wont be able to spin it in a constant motion against the force of the diff/tailshaft etc. You want a uniform application

I did the lettering on my tyres white, used Uni posca paint pen and it came off/cracked within a week, driving up my sharp driveway curb.
Then I tried Dy-mark paint pen, few weeks now and has lasted really well.
I know this is not what you would use for white-walling, but thought it may be of interest.
