I run bp and was told by my dealer to only use BP as I had work done to it and it was tuned to BP 98 and that other servos not mentioning names add additives to get 98 and that BP does not

Seems the common demoninator here is that most of us prefer BP , one I avoid is Caltex .

When you say 'here' you mean New Zealand?
New Zealand doesn't have even half of those petrol brands, different petrol standards, different commercial environment and the BP NZ 98 product is an entirely different fuel to what we get in Australia.
New Zealand is somewhat unusual as typically (as in Australia) the major oil companies control their own refineries as part of their supply chain. The one NZ refinery belongs to all four refiner marketing companies.
Also Caltex NZ is 100% Chrevron Corporation (US), here it is a 50/50 joint venture and operates very differently in a more competitive retail market (price, competition, distribution).

There are now only a few refineries in Australia also and generally one refinery will supply all of the different fuel stations in the area with just a small quantity of additives being added to differentiate the brands.

I use BP Ultimate 98 in my Car and Boat and have not used anything else.
I am also using BP Ultimate Diesel In my BMW X5.

FWIW my tuner recommended to stick with BP98. He said they have compared all the major brand 98s and BP consistently performed better.

My preference goes:

1. E-Flex
2. E-85
3. Toxic, imported, overrated old school carginogenous 98... from Caltex.

How does your car handle the E-Flex variation in ethanol rating? I thought it was purpose built for E-85.
