After having read though all the pages in the faults and defects thread I'm a bit dubious now about buying a new vf.
I have a 60th anniversary ve ute that I love and it has been faultless, but I want to buy an ssv redline ute sometime before they stop making them.
My missus is also considering a sv6 sedan .
I love holdens but I'm concerned about the problems people have been having. Very concerned that these problems might get worse the closer it comes to the end for all the holden workers who might understandably decide not to care about their work quality anymore .
We always hear from people with problems , just would like to hear some feedback from people who've had no trouble and love their vf's.

    VF SSV Redline
    This my first ever Holden.
I have traditionally been a Ford/Chrysler man and the last car was a BMW coupe.

I bought a Redline and I friggin love it.
It is the best car by a mile and sure it has had a few niggly little things, but overall it is fantastic.
My only wish is that it the V8 sound was more pronounced but that is nothing I cant fix.

Good to hear people, keep the good news coming. I go into the local holden place and sit in a redline ute every so often as motivation. I've never owned a v 8 and its on my bucket list. Pisses me off that they are going to stop making them!

I really love my vf ssv I'm on 3500km now. I've had a number of issues which they have fixed no problem except 2. One is wind noise through drivers window which a new seal is coming out for in about 2 months and my second issue is passenger door rattle. I've had the car in twice now and they recon they have fixed it but it keeps coming back!

Forums are for people with questions and problems, not happy stories, so of course you will find more negative than positive.
Buy one and worry about it later.

    VF Redline wagon
Love my new Redline wagon, just completed a trip from Mid North Coast to Sydney, four people and luggage, fuel consumption was 9.2l per 100 (average), also liked that other drivers had to back off on the bends.

    2013 MY12.5 SV6Z + 2016 MY16 SV6, both manuals
I have a VF SV6 Manual sedan, and an MY12.5 2013 VE SV6 Manual sedan as well. Do equal amounts of driving in them. I have also owned an MY09 and MY11 as well.

I really like the last of the VE. The improvement over the years has been considerable. I only bought the VF because I ran into a bargain I could not refuse.

So I was not looking for a VF, so am not blinded by the latest. There is no doubt however that it is better than the MY12.5. It has caused me no problems at all in the three months that I have had it.

Thanks for the detailed answers folks. I think I will have regrets for the rest of my life if I don't drive away from a holden dealer in my dream ute (ssv redline). Do fear the lemon factor though. Maybe I can find a way to keep my 60th anniversary sv6 , if I hold off on the redline til the last chance to order one comes around.
Having two utes would be stupid , but I do love my ve and I'm pretty stupid!

I wouldnt worry too much about the lack of quality as it comes to the end of the run. 90% of the Holden workers are just overpayed button pushers (hence why the company is going offshore) so unless a robot is having a bad day, you'll be right.

March build VF Calais. So far so good. Feels solid, no rattles and enough go for my needs. This is my first SatNav and it seems to be fairly easy to use.

Don't have my new ride yet.
I have owned in recent times an MY07 VE R8 and currently have an My11 VE Series 2 SSV Redline.
I had no issues with the R8.
As for the SSV Redline I have a rattle in one of the doors. It sounds like the door rattle is like that of the VF.

I am not blinded by the brand, I just like the cars and I would rather buy local over imported.

My suggestion is just buy what you want.

VF SSV manual sedan on order
My Jan 14 build SSV sedan has given me no problems in the 7 weeks I've owned it and I absolutely love it. The two VE's I had were fine too.

I have done just under 15,000 km in mine. Came out of Euro and Japanese performance cars and totally, utterly love the Redline. Such a capable car (mind you, mine DOES have some tuning) and a real credit to the engineers at Holden.

Not one problem for me - been a really good thing and highly recommended!
