I bought my first car.. in the process of throwing money at it atm. N/A VL commo 750 bucks... the front right side of the car was all smashed cuz it hit an embankment but we fixed it up and its pretty straight now.. needs rim, sus, brakes etc.. all the stock stuff is sloppy.. haha runs good tho and i completely own the car.. so i got it up on half of my mates..
Triumph I paid for my first car while at University. Cost $300 for a six year old Triumph 12/50. Previous to that, had a six month old Honda CB 175 that I bought for $400. i needed to upgarde to a car when I got married. Does anyone marry while at Uni these days? Of course, all this was back in the late sixties.
well i got my first car only back in May and i paid $1000 for it and it needed a Diff, Battery and a ignition module and i knew it would have a few things here and there that would need fixing once it was on the road but i think ive spent about another $1370 to get it to where it is. Most of it to get it on the road and a stereo
Nope parents paid for it series 3 bluebird ,I have 2 kids and when they are old enough to drive i intend to buy them cars
I've had a few cars, two of which were given to me by my parents. First car - VK Commodore SL (Dad bought it for me) Second car - "92 Mazda 626 (paid for it myself) Third car - "83 Ford Telstar (paid $800 for it, was mint condition for its age, genuine 80,000km on the clock. Needed a cheap car QUICK) Fourth car - VS Commodore EXEC (Mum gave it to me. She bought herself a new Caprice, gave me her VS) Fifth car - VZ Calais (bought it myself with the help of a loan) Dad bought me my first car because he had started a trust fund for me when I was born. He put little bits of money in there all my life till I was 18. I was aware of the account so a few weeks before my 18th he asked me if I wanted the money or if I wanted him to just buy me a car... I couldn't be bothered looking for a car myself so I said he could just get it for me. He bought the VK for $2000 or so and gave me what money was left over, wasn't heaps but it paid for insurance plus a big night out for my 18th I don't feel bad for him buying it for me cos he had been saving for 18 years... and I'm doing the same for my own children now... $10 a week for each other them, over 18 years of saving plus a bit of interest will get them a pretty nice car or something when they're 18
I think you guys are being kinda unfair, just cause a familys well off and choose to pay alot of money for their child to have a nice car (whether it be a wise investment or not) that's their choice. it seems like your resenting them for being wealthy. Im by no means biased because my vy was the example of many afterschool hours and school holidays working at big w. but to slam a family just cause of their wealth doesnt seem right. I agree kids should work for their things and agree that many people my age have been wrapped in bubble wrap by their parents. and Im sure they wouldnt know a hard days work if it bit them in the ass, but in the end theyll learn a valuable lesson. when there nice shiny new car that mummy and daddy brought them is sittin either in the impound yard or sittin at the wreckers.
The problem isn't about rich parents buying their kids expensive cars... the problem is the spoilt kids bragging about how much better their car is than the kids that did it tough and worked hard to earn the measly $3000 that bought them their VN.
when i have kids i intend on doing just that for my kids putting 20 bucks away a week for them before interest thats 18720 whether they chose to buy a car with it or put it towards a home loan will be up to them but it gives them some extra help that i unfortunately never got
I sold both my bmx bikes and worked for my vs ute, my parents gave me 2 grand towards it for my 18th birthday as well.
 i sold it a few years ago cheap to get it out the way :bang: but it was an on going lowrider project that i never put on the road. passed driving test when 19 and wanted to get on the road so went straight out and bought a 1991 200sx s13, so cortina had to go, i still think of it though :supersad:
My first car is going to be my 18th birthday present. Mum got it for me before I was 16, so I could learn to drive in it, and be comfortable in it, etc. She drives it until I'm 18, then she'll get herself a new car. That being said, the only reason I've got it waiting for me besides the fact that Mum wanted me to learn in it, is that I work (35-45 hours pw), and with the money I earn, I have to pay for everything I want/need my self. I have two horses, which cost me around $300 (minumum) per month, any clothes I want/need, petrol if I want to go somewhere and petrol to and from work, and to pay for my "board," I do the grocery shopping. So I believe I've earned my car if we're talking cash terms, and morals.
I Got given my first car from a friend of the family, 1994 diahatsu charade, Farked motor and farked guard from a kangaroo, The person went away n it was broken into while they where gone for a month, and whoever broke into it left the boot n all the doors open so it had mold on the carpet n **** like that.... Went halfs with the parents to fix it up, Came up pretty damn good. Ended up costing $700 in total with rego, all Fixed lookin sweet again, sold it for $3200 offered the lady who gave it to me the $2000 for it but she didn't want to accept it she was happy for me to keep it I was only 15 when we did that, then that paid for my first vn But before that i had a 1982 Toyota corona with a snapped timing chain never got around to fixing it so it went to you pull it, Paid $20 bucks for it you pull it paid $120
I paid for my first car VL paid $750 got it rego'd spent a $500 cleaning it up and sold it about 4 months after i got my L's and jus bought my second car which i paid for all myself which is a Suzuki swift GTI:thumbsup: And about the parents buying the kids cars a kid at my school, his parents bought him an Audi A4 with 19" chromies, what were they thinking its his first car WTF

My parents paid for my car as they didn't want me driving something unsafe, but thats it. I pay for insurance, rego, servicing, fuel etc.
$400 for a completely original 5speed VL SL. non turbo. 170 000 original k's. Deal of the century in my opinion
first car was a 1976 mini panelvan cost 1700 went halves with parents but ive bought a few more cars since then and the mini has never been on the road lol just a big project
I think my parents paid for my first car when i was 16. was a vl berlina with 400,000kms. It was a lemmon. Spent thousands of dollors on it and sold it for $400. My second car is my current car which i paid $5000 for it a few years ago when i was 17 i think. And then i got a vl turbo what i was driving on my p's for awhile naughty naughty but it got stolen. So ive still got my second. On my full licence now so i can drive it legally lol. the end
