As has been stated before, due to modifications you make to your car, if you post up you've blown the motor, mafless tune etc and your number plate is visible, it makes it easier for police to catch you and know your detectable. Do you really think there aren't cops checking these sorts of pages? And once they get your plate number, bye bye car

Its amazing how good some car thieving pricks can be. If they want your car, they're going to take it.
Wether its really sneaky tow truck stuff, or stand over tactics, you wont be keeping it.
The less you put your car out there the better.

Lots of people blur the plates then leave it on the dyno sheet for all to see...
Also knowing the suburb of which one lives makes it easy to locate but like I said, if they want it, they're going to get it one way or another

When you have things like hoon hotline and all they need is a rego number to report issues it's open to abuse. I don't bother even putting the car up because it's so unique to the area even with blurred plates you could recognise it.

oh i love facebook and just finding crap out. especially when you see people on gumtree selling stuff and you just wanna see what they look like xD.

On Topic - my cars insured for a lot more then its worth.

doesn't really bother me if i show my plates but i will blur out other peoples plates in my photos if they don't want them in.

Perhaps I'm overly paranoid, but I'm too scared to show pics of my car online even with my number plates blocked out. The external mods of my car, though not extreme, probably set it apart enough that any cop viewing this forum would recognize it on the road. As others have said, EPA and police reading about/seeing pics of my mods and tracing them back to me through rego details is a risk I'm not willing to take.

    just to do with privacy.

No offense taken. I'm probably just being paranoid, but I've seen enough stories on this and other car forums to have me worried. I'd prefer to err on the side of caution.

im with the op.......load of ****.

as others have said, if the car thieft industry wants your car, its as good as gone. so on that thought the only way for it to not be known about is for it to never see the light of day, so no driving, no online pics, no workshops. its the only way it wont be seen and possibly followed.

as for illegal mods, everything is illegal that wasnt standard fitment as its not adr approved for that vehical. we all mod our cars and know the implications of that so whats the point of running scared with it. if you drive around sensible you generally wont have a problem but carry on like a dick and you get what you deserve.

its funny to see how many live their lives in constant fear, grow some balls guys!!!

btw my rego plates are never blurred for all to see and with 2 clicks of a mouse you can find my name and address. the car is insured for more than its worth so feel free to come get it......but you better be a extremely quick runner, say 900m/sec if you get my drift

I understand about people trying to hide from housos who pinch cars but I hope you all realise that the cops can 'unpixelate' any photo they want and see the number plate underneath. The police computer geeks are very clever.

It's just like grinding off an old engine number and replacing it, unless it's done right the old number is still visible underneath.

So all you eco vandals with your illegal mods and EPA violations are doomed anyway. If the authorities want to find out who owns the car, they can easily do so.
