That one had a payout of about 13k on it for damage done to it so combined it was about 20k.

So why were you shocked when a dealer offered you $6k for a damaged car ?

Aint VR and VS's become a classic and becoming much harder to find to a degree in real good condition?

I see a few at Jollys Wreckers come up online with the notifications,
and when I go an wander around, that's if people are after parts,
and by the time I usually get there,
their aint much left of them, so parts will be hard to come by.

Was like steering a truck ! [no power steering]

i found them quite light as opposed to cars released not long after - the worm and shaft steering went ok.

Some perspective and what I was willing to spend:
5 yrs ago I bought a 2005 VZ Executive Wagon with 150,000km for $7k (private sale) It was red so I was happy with it. Tidy and regular service.
18mths ago I bought a 2005 VZ Berlina Wagon with 120,000km for $7k (private sale). Very happy with it, tidy and regular service.
Yesterday I bought a 2008 VZ Executive wagon with 137,000km for $8k (dealer). Very tidy and regular service. I’m not happy about the colour (silver) but it was the best wagon I could get this week, needing to replace our 2005 VZ Executive wagon that was written off. Insurance gave us $6k so that was a fair price for a wagon that now had 220,000km.

I believe the above wagons were good value for money (NZ) as the alternatives had a lot more kms for the same price (or more) or you paid less for an older model. If I spent 6mths searching TradeMe I might’ve got a better deal but I’m pretty sure the price was about right for what I got. I guess Commodores are a bit cheaper in Aus?
