The title is pretty self explanatory, why does the Vn V6 Buick sound like it has emphysema, or like its trying to imitate a vacuum cleaner?

Possibly because it’s heavily restricted in the intake and exhaust, and being an old engine design

Because it's a family sedan from last century, not a performance car.

That would be an approprite answer if i was asking why it has so little power... not that it does

I have a vn motor in an EK panelvan and it sounds more vacuumy, maybe because of the less insulation, but they both "breath" i have also heard that they are a "bad car" and one of the reasons being because they sound like a vacuum

Being a bad car wouldn’t make it sound like a vacuum, have a listen to the turbo charged Mustang, it sounds like my leaf blower
