Never be afraid of scuffing paint.
Scuffing paint is part of ute ownership.
Be a man I say and scuff.

i own an older VS ute.

it does what i need it to.
hauls plenty of stuff. (eg no need for bike racks)
on the P Plates the overloading factor is pretty much nil. which is a bonus.

pretty much nowadays it seems to be because "they look good"
which kinda defeats the purpose. but each to their own.

    just some side info.
first ute was made because a lady wanted to go to church on sunday and take the pigs to market on monday.
    practicality at its best =P

oh and all utes require a dent.
most common place is in the tailgate =P

I can see the appeal of utes, but I've always wondered why there so ####ing expensive, try finding a decent one under 5k.
    No chance!

Yeah....... you have to make sure when you're moving bodies, some aren't still kicking.
And yeah, can't beat a Ute for that.

Downside is 500kg less towing capacity than sedan or wagon... But I love my ute - throw mine and my boy's bikes in the back - no need to take front wheels off or worry about strapping them to racks, load up gear for rugby and the missus has a girlwheeldrive when we need it... And my 7 year gets to sit up front we me on booster seat (for him, not me) he loves it
