its more often a lifter than an injector. still possible though.

It is common for injectors to tick as they pulse.

EDIT: put a screwdriver on the injectors, if the tick is in-time with any of them when you touch it, then you'll know.

narrow your search down with a mechanics stethoscope or as said a screwdriver. if its a lifter, then just try some lifter free up, every now and then u get the odd car this stuff works on. but more than likely youll just have to live with it untill your ready to pull them out.

More than likley its the injectors especially on a V8,i had a VR statesman V8 and the injector pulses were very noticable, wasnt lifters. But if you had a lifter noise you would know about it,a lifter noise is more a higher pitch than an injector pulse.

2012 Commodore VE SS Series II
Hi all, I've been going through some of my own ticking drama too.
Quick facts, 2012 VE SS, manual, done about 110k kms.
I've been getting a constant tick coming from the fuel rail, used a screwdriver and listen all around, took it to a mechanic who put listening devices around the engine and he said was definitely injectors,/purge valve, that whole area.
So changed the purge valve, still there, changed injectors, no change.

Could it just be something wrong with the fuel rail itself? Or is it possible if there is an exhaust manifold leak, the tapping could resonate through there?

Please help, don't really wanna throw more money at it if it means nothing. Any ideas?
