Thanks mate,

Bit of both really and from my last experience with alpine type R's they proved to hold good quality sound at high volume.

No I haven't heard anything about the company. What did I miss out on?

True, have you thought of going Type S's and go for sound quality over loudness?

Well i was talking to my audio guy and he says that Alpine were really good back in the day, but now most of their product research and product improvement money doesn't go towards that area anymore. So they arn't producing as good of products as they used to be and they now live off their reputation.

i dunno how true that is. Just what i heard.

Haha, Type R's are better than Type S mate. Then Type X is the next step up over R's.

What does your Audio guy think is better?

What are you driving man? It isn't showing me on my iPhone.

I had JL splits in my last ute, I didn't think they really went loud enough. What did you put in yours and how much did it set you back?

VZ SV6, i've got:

Alpine Double Din Head unit iXA-W404E ($700 + steering wheel + install roughly 200?) $ 900
W3V3 12inch JL Sub $500
XD6001 JL Mono Amp $500
4 guage wiring $60
Install of sub/amp/deadening $200
I got mate rates on everything but sub/amp.

Stock speakers/tweeters.

The install isnext to the fuel tank in the tray. although the box for the sub was to big for the spot so they had to cut into my cab etc etc. all sealed and sound deadened.
The sub sits neat and flush with the carpet in the cab. And the amp is under the seat. i'll go down and get a photo.

Gotta run my sub in before he can tune it up its running on its lowest and they said once i run it hard i have to run it on a low setting to cool down.. like a turbo timer...

Head unit looks good mate. Once I find out my prices I'll let you know.

Mine was supposed to go in today for her new Sound System but I didn't have any way to get the car to the damn shop :(
