its got FE2 springs and im worried about the guards if they need rolling, if i need different springs and if they will rub and stop me from turning properly.

You need 245 30 20. The tyres you have will rub on wheel arches at rear and hit struts at the front - you won’t even be able to bolt them up

    Profile is wrong.
20 inch rim tyre profile is 30.
19 inch rim tyre profile is 35.
18 inch rim tyre profile is 45.

Profile is a ratio of width, so goes up as width gets wider.
The height is the issue on the front. I know 25.7" height fits (245/45-17).
OP, that is like a 28" tyre. You have no hope

There's no right or wrong profile for a particular wheel size. Think about all the Commodore owners running later model 18s that can't use 45 profile tyres because of scrubbing on the spring seat.

OP, use this to compare - www.willtheyfit.com

Using that link, OP will need 225/30-20 tyres to make it work

And the sidewall would be 18.25mm less than on my 245/35/20.

Not something I'd want to be running.

    I reckon 18's MAX on a 2nd gen. I have 17s which are nice.

    Indeed.

The VE with 20s rides better than the VS with 18s.

My vx with 18’s handles and drives so much better than my vs on 17’s. So much more relaxing to drive the vx.

Never thought it was that bad until I spend a while in the vx lol.

Yeah blokes that fly past me at 110 on the highway corners, with me feeling safer at 90 than the 100kph limit are often driving VE utes. Like EYY i thought the ute handled reasonably well.
