Just wondering if this will fit into my VY Executive series 1 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HSV-VY-CLUB-...ryZ32060QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting Cheers
If its for a series 1 it will fit but you will be stuck with the kilometers on that cluster. If you can check the part No on the back my research found the part No for a series 1 cluster is 92164433 and is priced at approx.$550.00 from the dealer supply only.
I thought that the odometer history was stored in the BCM computer memory of the car. I thought that the cluster only displayed what was in the computer. is this correct
No sorry mate.I purchased a 2nd hand calais cluster for mine with 30,000kms on it.Tech2 could change auto to manual,V8 to V6 calibration and sedan fuel tank size to ute tank size but could not change kilometers as the cluster had passed 100kms.A built in pain in the rear from the factory.Thats why I got a Brand new HSV one like in the photo (also matches the HSV gauges in the centre console).A new one can have the vehicle kms programmed in if you dont do more than 100kms between fitting and programming. Hope this helps like to know how you get on.
Match the Series. Series 1 and 2 cluster can be cross fitted, and most things will work. However, Series 1 into Series 2 and vice versa will have the fuel gauge and distance to go working backwards. The first is livable with, but the DTG is useless. As a VY Series 1, it will work in a VY Executive Series 1, requiring the Tech2 to program 6 or 8, airbags, etc. As previously stated, you will be stuck with the odometer reading.
that "after 100km" thing sucks, cause people will gettin ones with lower K from wreckers etc and then changing theres from 140K (just pulled a number out of my ass here) which would make feel like i got ripped off if i bought that car, just to make them get a few extra dollars on a trade in...
yea they could do that and change there k's but if ya check the service records they wont match. but it is wrong that people are able to put dashes in with lower k's on the clock
Yeah when you see someone refer to "Tech2" then thats the piece of hardware Holden use to make the changes to the klms and etc.
Tech2 Only Resets up to 100 Km. The TECH2 can only reset the odometer if it reads less than 100 kilometres. After that, it needs to go to a specialist instrument shop to be reset, at higher cost.
