It seems that driver's side power window switch assemblies are very hard to get and non-guaranteed used ones go for big bucks.

It it possible to use a passenger side one and somehow drill and insert the child lock in the right spot?

Passenger ones are typically less used and more available. I'm happy to rewire with the correct looks etc.

I'd use the vz switch conversion if I didn't want to maintain originality.

Plenty on Ebay around 50, what's wrong with yours. Pull it apart and clean the contacts if its not working.

They are pretty easy to pull apart and check over. You should also be able to change out the contacts from the passenger side to the drviers side and use the existing cover, with the child locks on them.
