When filling up my window washer reservoir today I noticed water leaving out on the other side of the engine bay. On further inspection I found a hose not connected to anything (see pics).

Both the front and rear washers work, and when turned on no water comes out of the mystery hose. It only leaks when I top up the window washer fluid.

Is it simply an overflow hose for the reservoir?

Great thanks, never though a washer reservoir would need one but there you go.

Yes, that what it is,
I though the same thing,
but owning 2 x VE's, they both did the same thing
But What I do not like, is that its vents over the right hand headlight,
So if the head light is not sealed 100%,
you could get water/moisture in it.
so I have directed mine down to inner side of the headlight, almost down beside the drivers side rear of the radiator.
[before it gets to the headlight]

I was filling mine up one day and had no clue where all this water was coming from, it completely baffled me until I could hear bubbles on the other side of the filler and realized what it was :p

Does anyone know how to stop the overflow hose for the washer fluid leaking? Or if it needs to be connected? Mine is doing it and it actually drains all the water out.

That's not the overflow, that's a leak.
You can unbolt the tank with a little effort and fix or replace.
Or stick your mitt in and feel around for the leak.

Mine does that to, It drains up to 80% of the reservoir every time I fill it. I have been told that the leak is between the radiator & the front grille, It is a difficult spot to get to & has a little hose fitted near or on the reservoir that has a tendency to crack. This needs to be replaced. I am not sure If the front grille can be pulled out the access this area. or the front nose cone needs to be removed.

You should be able to get access to the unit if you raise the front of the car on ramps, and remove the lower front splash tray.
