Windows slider swap without breaking

Could be a while, I wasn't in a rush to race out and redo it all again!

But just for interest I'll put some sliders together for a pic. Not remotely interesting but a few different brands and actually different molds which surprised me. Basically it was GM, Rare Spares and some from a clip and retainer specialist. All slightly different but to do the same job, and none seemed any better in pressing on or staying intact over a short period. I'll also check the NOS sliders on my spare regulators, what else is spare time for!?

Ok just to confuse things more, my NOS genuine Bosch power window regulators use another version again. Same style of clip to suit same tracks but has much larger stud with a larger flat top rather than a ball. The clips on that wouldn't touch the sides of my other clips or the existing studs in door. And should I ever need to replace one of those, who the hell stocks them!

Just measured them, 10mm ball studs on the NOS regulators and 8mm for the regular version clips I have. No idea what's in VZ giving the dramas but I did compare them before and not anything near the 10mm size. But if there happens to be 8.5 or 9mm, for whatever weird reason, it'd match the symptoms. The search continues.

Not the issue at hand, but another one. Possibly a similar issue with the VZ, but to a lesser extent!

Correct, VZ regulators were strengthened with bigger ball stud and a more robust slider clip.

What is the ball stud in your third pic? Aftermarket rarespares i assume?

Well that's strange you would think Holden would give you the correct part, I've done vs vr and vt they are all the same clip. Maybe wreakers might be the go.

Says VY on the boxes. Unless you can also get the clips then pointless even i stalling new regulators. And possibly the same issue in my VZ, but they don't appear to be the same.
Genuine clip and Rare Spares stud they supply with theirs. I'll try and locate the larger clip and see if that works.

One reply from a Holden dealer. The part has been revised in design to improve over previous design and issues but installs as per usual (the complete regulator now supplied). They are chasing up the sliders to see if they are even available separately. And still not sure if that's even the issue with the VZ, be nice if it was, kinda.

No luck so far for separate clips, believes they were introduced for series II VZ. Regulators etc carried same part numbers as before change, just superseded.

Go to Holden and buy ones for your Model they must be a little bigger balls to keep breaking. Give them the vin number so they do give you the correct ones.

From what I know, going by what was written in the girls toilets (don't ask) at the local nightclub, that @Aus78Formula has big balls. His balls are bigger than most. I doubt Holden can help. They have small balls.
