Its been raining the last few days in Syd and my wiper blades even though its raining hard sound like they are rubbing against dry glass. The car is 4 months old, has anyone else had their blades last a very short time or needed repalcing this early?

Just a thought - do you use glass cleaner on them? ie, do you wipe them over with whatever cleaner you use on your windscreen? This can sometimes leave the wiper edges grippy on the glass - and it can last a while - try wiping over the blades with a weak mix of PH neutral wash shampoo - this can often remove any cleaner residue causing them to stick.

Are they wiping well and removing the water?

They might be just dry and old even though the car is new.

Wash the blades every time you wash the car. As above, use a decent pH neutral car wash on them. I got nearly 5 years out of the last set I had on the last car before changing them

Mine do the same thing Cruzer, my car is 12months old now, but they've always done it.
I clean my wipers every week when I wash the car, only 'fixes' it for a short period of time.

    Expensive!!

I would recommend that you do everything possible before going for new wiper blades.

I have had two sets stolen from my vehicle, and I gather this is not that unusual as they cost $90 a pair from Holden. Even Autobarn replacements cost $70 a pair.

I now keep a spare set bought from Ebay for less than $40 including postal costs just in case it happens a third time.

I will give them a wash as Tinsnips and you have said, but they do wipe the water off fine, if its pelting down they are fine but anything below that they more often then not make the dry scrap sound. Interesting to that yours bigjim92's do the same to but. If i cant get them right may try warranty lol

And Feakson cant believe yours got nicked, maybe it was vandalised rather then stolen?? but still thats low:(

you might have trouble claiming them through warrenty as they're a wear and tear item...

    That's absolutely gold.....

"Ill try and claim the wipers on warranty"......

No wonder dealers knock people back with genuine problems that they cant replicate.

If you think Commo blades are expensive, for my wifes Astra Holden wanted $120 a pair! I bought a pair of genuine GM's from a Vauxhall dealer in the UK my last trip there for the equiv of $60 - half the price!

The Vauxhall guy told me they are all made by Bosch anyway and you can save a few bucks buying them in Bosch packaging for the very same product.

As a side item, you can actually refill the rubbers in them, but you need to buy the good Bosch rubbers - the rest are crap. They do this all the time in the UK as it seems to rain every second day there! :rofl2:

I don't know how much this will help but a wise old man once told me that the best thing to do with wiper blades is wipe a VERY light smear of graphite powder on them once in a while and they will glide like new ones. Apparently it doesn't come off on the glass and the high end car dealers use this trick !!

Haha so I'm not the only one?

Mine had gone to **** and I called into the shops on the way to supercheap.. When I came out of the shops my wiper blades were gone.. When the rain eased and I left the shops and got to supercheap I understood why someone would steal them.. However aside from some dick pinching my old wipers I haven't had a problem with them (of course they got old and didn't work as well)..

Gone are the good ol days of the $10 refills you cut to size yourself..

I've replaced several pairs of wipers under new car warranty when kms and months were low. And had the claims paid lol
If there is no obvious reason for them to be noisey or poor, such as deterioration of the rubber or damage, then they should be covered!

+1, I've done this for years now. Generally get at least 3 years out of a set, even up here in (not so) sunny QLD.
