VF's are different, they have jets in the scuttle, just below the rear edge of the bonnet.

How can wipers actually spray water?

When you pull the left indicator arm towards the steering wheel

But they operate just like VE, wipers sweep before squirters squirt, large reservoir empties quickly...

From memory of my last VE, the water squirted from the nozzle on the underside of the wipers, meaning that the first sweep was always dry when using the washers on a dry screen to clean it. I remember thinking what a poor design this was..

Yes,but my 2012 squirts water as the Wipers start to move,the first 1/4 metre or so,as designed.
If thats not happening water is draining back to the reservoir from the wipers or the pump itself has a problem or failing.
Talking about my car,i don't have another VE to compare.

Yes but the leading edge of the wiper is still sweeping a dry screen on the first sweep.

Where the old style jets in the bonnet mean the wiper is sweeping wet glass front the get go.
