Hi, does anyone know how to factory reset the ksmart? I played too much with the advance settings and managed to break the touchscreen. Now I can't touch the screen to change it back or reset it. I have tried holding the reset button for seconds, even minutes with power on/off/during bootup... all it seems to do is restart the device... never resets anything. Or is there a way to access the settings via a web browser on phone or computer? I had another device (not ksmart) which I was able to connect to it's Wi-Fi and modify the settings through the phones browser.
Understand you have sorted it now, but just something you could try maybe for next time also if you get stuck. In the installation doc that came with mine, it looks like on the box on the side with the antennas, there looks like a reset hole next to the two leds. No idea if this would work.

Can you link the firmware you installed ?

Also attached I scanned the 2 page installation doc that came with mine, I also got a Holden install guide from the guy that sells them but had to break it up in two parts as size was to big

Hi Mercina,

Mine actually didn't come with any installation document in the box... it had no paperwork at all other than the warranty doc. It didn't matter at the time, it was pretty straightforward to install... that said I am happy to have them all now. I have learned some new things reading through it!

The link I downloaded the firmware from was from within this thread back in March '24: HOLDEN_KS_Auto_DSP(BT)_0219.zip

In some respects I wish I waited a little longer for these helpful replies as I might likely could have saved it without installing new firmware, which I don't actually know if it's newer/older/same as what I had originally!

Anyhow, good to also know that if I ever really mess it up, there is a good chance that the auto installation of new firmware process is very likely to help!

F2 GTS 2015
Hey all,
I previously pinged Walkinshaw about their (exceedingly expensive) android auto module for the GTS which was VF only and they had no idea when/if an F2 version would arrive.
From this thread, am I correct to understand that the unit was actually from Kayhan audio which appears to be available for considerably less that Walkinshaw wanted?

Am I also correct to understand the ksmart is preferred?

It seems (again from the thread) that vf2 deleted aux audio, which may explain the lack of suitable unit from Walkinshaw I guess? However, my F2 GTS retains the DVD player and displays AUX on the input selector. She's one of the first off the line for series 2 so possibly maybe it was an older chassis? Or maybe just the HSV was different as it retained DVD....dunno.

I'm looking for some guidance.
I'd like android auto (I think)....what I really want is simply to put the phone navigation app on the centre screen and have torque running on the phone screen. Phone needs to be plugged in to charge anyway, so wireless seems a tad pointless imho. I don't use voice commands (too frustrating and disable mic for privacy reasons anyway).
My dismantling days are pretty much over...too sore, too impatient and too scared of snapping lugs, so will be looking to get someone to install for me.

On mylink I really only use the EDI (for voltage and temps which can be replaced by torque app and obd), incoming calls, and music from phone by Bluetooth (did have mp3 usb stick but it died and I don't really miss it)

So with all that in mind, what unit is best suited do you reckon?
Would it be an auto electrician to install?

Maybe the GTS retained the CD player like the Caprice did in series two.

Hi Disorganise,

i got this one from Ali Express, took a bit over a week to arrive. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006078979872.html

I got it with the aux kit, but looks like the price has gone up, and the price they advertise doesn't have GST so add that also. I think i paid around $430-$440 back in September.

It then sat in the box for about 2 months before I finally got around to installing it. I got a trim removal kit from amazon for about $20 to make sure I had the right tools, and wasn't going to risk breaking or scratching anything with a screwdriver, it was actually pretty straight forward, not much can go wrong if you take you time, pull trim apart, remove glovebox, go have a cup of coffee, or leave to next day, come back, follow diagram to plug stuff back in and run cables to glovebox side, put it all back together. I would say an auto electrician would charge you a few hundred easy. It actually is very easy just watch a few YouTube videos first, they are around.

With regards to your question, it runs android auto fine, Waze for navigation works well, phone calls work well using original mic. Only thing i am not to much a fan on is i like to listen to the radio, so i use the mylink radio, and have waze on the screen, whilst i see the popups come up on the screen it doesn't announce them because i have the radio on. Not really that much of an issue. So back to your question, i am not sure if you have waze on the centre screen if you can then have a seperate app running on your phone (torque app), never tried it, maybe someone else has ?

only other suggestion would be wait till they go on sale, and keep an eye out on ozbargins for AliExpress sale discount codes, eg looks like there are some there now https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/886393 so get $48 off for $300+ spend

Hope this helps.

Thanks Mercina,
Does the aux give better sound than bluetooth do you know? I assume it would but not sure.

I think the 2nd app thing should be easy to test. Once you have waze up and running, can you open anything else on the phone at all, or is essentially screen mirroring? (I've never had Android Auto/Carplay so don't actually know how it works)

cheers :)

The AUX sound on this device is still blue tooth. It takes the blue tooth sound from the carplay unit and sends it it back through Mylink

It's not mirroring your phone, AA/CP works independently from other apps on your phone, so you can open your phone and open other apps, such as Messages.
