Today i was trying to switch over a head unit in my VS. I had all the power wiring cut off from the old harness onto the new one just to test the new one. Anyway it all worked fine up until one of the wires touched the metal on the inside of where the head unit sits.

This caused a spark then my head unit lost power or died. I automatically assumed it was a fuse so i replaced the 15a one on the back of the head unit and the 7.5a fuse under the kick panel. After doing this i still have nothing?

Im not sure what ive done wrong so maybe somebody has a suggestion to what i can do to fix this?

Thanks,

Mitch

I know it's too late now, but the battery must always be disconnected or fuses pulled before any work like that is carried out.
Wire up your head unit to a separate power supply (with a fuse) and see if it works. If not........well.
If it does, you may have burnt out a wire.
With the H/U disconnected, do the fuses blow when you replace them?

Is it the original stereo, or have you just fitted a new one and it's not working?

Ok... The head unit is just another name for the stereo/cd/radio in the dash.
If all the fuses are ok, I would suggest that there is maybe a problem with the unit it's self.
The fuses you should've checked would be......
Number 23 fuse
Number 11 fuse
Have a look at number 16 fuse as well.
