Hey guys, the after market headunit that came with my vr commodore stopped working last week. Naturally i thought the head unit itself was broken so i brought a new sony head unit. however, after wiring it up ive ran into some problems. When i reconnect the battery the headunit does make a noise, so it does have power. but the actual front face does not light up at all. I experimented with the yellow and yellow/red wires but the face did not light up. I swapped the sony headunit incase it was a faulty one but now ive ran into the same problem, radio fuse is fine and the headunit fuse is fine. so right now ive got no headunit working. iam wondering if anyone else has had this problem. could it be the actual wiring in the car itself is buggered?

any help would be much appreciated.

I know this may sound stupid but firstly ensure the HU is wired correctly.

This is the wiring guide for VN-VZ models...

Accessories - Yellow
Constant - Orange/White
Illumination - Brown/White
Earth - Black/White
12V OUTPUT - Yellow/Red
Radio Mute - Yellow/Black (VT onwards)
Antenna up - White (VR onwards)
Antenna down - Blue (VR onwards)
Illumination OUTPUT - Grey (VT onwards)

Speakers

Front Left (+) - Tan
Front Left (-) - Grey

Front Right (+) - Light/Green
Front Right (-) - Dark/Green

Rear Left (+) - Brown/Black
Rear Left (-) - Yellow/Blue

Rear Right (+) - Blue/Orange
Rear Right (-) - Blue/Black

Hopefully it's a simple wiring mistake!

Matt.
