My beautiful big Caprice has managed to damage a camshaft and now I have to decide between having it repaired or trading it as is. He's done 175k and everyone tells me he could easily do 300k if I continue to get him the right care and maintenance. But this looks like about a $5k repair according to the Holden Dealer. I had some further advice from another forum who said "It's a WM which means it will have AFM lifters (known to fail) – The heads really need to come off before you can determine what the issue is, given the km's it's very unlikely to be a cam bearing and much more likely to be failed/spun lifter which ranges from 2k-5k depending on how you go about fixing it.
Can anybody point me to an engine repairer in the Brisbane area that I can trust to fix this issue?
