Friend just bought a 2012 Caprice V. what giving him the shits is when he opens the front passenger door and put anything on the seat say a bag or shopping which we all do at times. when he goes around and gets in car.. and starts its asking the passenger to put seat belt one. i can understand its a safety thing put your seat belt on. but as soon as you open the door and put a bag on seat. it asks for the seat belt to be on. does anyone know of how to get around this. he just bought the car. and is happy with it. just this is pissing him off about each time u open the passenger front door and put on seat anything this belt alarm chimes.

thanks in advance

alot of people just leave the seatbelt clicked in and only undo it when a passenger gets in

I'd say its recognising the weight if the bag... Maybe put the bag in the footwell.

Just put shopping on the floor!.. and if it really bothers him, clip the seatbelt in.

But to answer the question, more than likely it will be illegal to circumvent this safety feature.

as stated above is the only solution :)

This is what happens when you buy cars with technology

The passenger presence sensors can be over sensitive, have had to replace a few in the past because of this.
