Nope. But depends on which 6 maybe. Another question. If I went the 6, does it come manual. Is the shifter in a similar spot to the 4 manual?
The six cylinder LC and LJ Toranas had a wheelbase 4.2 inches (107 mm) longer than the four cylinder models, to accommodate the longer six cylinder engine. Sooo......if you're going to try to stuff an in-line six into a four cylinder engine bay, you need to find that extra length for the engine somewhere. Going forward isn't really much of an option, so it has to be set back in the chassis somehow. The firewall and transmission tunnel are going to need a drastic amount of surgery if you decide to go this way. Any transmission you decide on will also have to be set back in the chassis, so the transmission lever will be further back than the four cylinder one you have at present.
Well... A little more info... How bad is this? Diffent angles to assist in seeing it.. It is about a foot back from the very front of the rail. So it isnt supporting anything.. Seems the books that came with it matches. Body number confirms it. Now where would I find an engine number? Also gonna start wet sanding the tail light surround to remove the black. I have 400 and 1200 to finish. Then a polish. Also how would you turbo a carby engine? Mod it to injection? Then wouldnt it need an engineers?
yeah if youre keen on putting it back together stripped friday night and the charger has gone. wombles, hit it with the wire wheel. be brutal about it too. need to see how deep the rabbit hole goes.
Wombles Those pictures are so unclear, it's difficult to work out whether the kink is the result of an accident or deliberately in-built as part of the car's "crumple zone" to absorb major impacts. It's also difficult to work out exactly where the kink is located, but I assume it's one of the chassis rails beside the engine - correct? If it is one of the rails, does the kink appear in both chassis rails at the same point?
usually this is the give away, when it opens up between spot welds. like calaber said though it could be a contour in the design of the rail, but a bump could have twisted it even more. i wouldnt know, this car is about 20 years older than the ones i mess with...
