Yeah when I bought my ute MC I found sedans ones still available. For some reason though no one I called could get me a ute MC. Then VSL managed scored the last one in the country.Just re did my front calipers with new seals from Repco. New PBR Brake master cylinder also.
part of the answer is belowWhy on earth would you use a G clamp to push back pistons in a caliper that is off the vehicle and should have no resistance? If it won't push in with your thumb then there is a problem.
Using the old pad and a g clamp without having to buy extra tool sheet helps to squarely put the rest of the piston in, yes there is some resistance with new seals which stop leaks when under pressure and the seal expands further.once you've done that carefully and squarely push the piston into the bore ensuring the seal doesn't pop out of that groove in the bore
Some info, yes there is/was a specific red organic lubricant that was used instead of brake fluid for all hydraulic seals/piston and boots for brake/booster components/installation .
I can't remember the brand as it was many moons ago when I used to help out in the hydraulic brake section doing recon units.
For the last hour ive been trying to install a dust seal on the piston to go into the calliper with a Protex kit and im about to give up and ask a mechanic to install it, is there a easy sure way to do this? Im not using red rubber grease just some brake fluid I was able to get it on once but I forgot to use brake fluid and I couldnt push the piston in even when using a piston pushing tool I stopped because it would of tore apart the seal. How do mechanics do this do they have special tools? Since I dont have any red rubber grease is it ok to use vaseline.
