i had a mate with something similar with his vs, hed be cruising along an then all of a sudden everylight inside the car and out would turn into a giant set of strobe lights :S to fix it.... i think he just sold the car

driving home today, crusing at 60, headlights on.

ABS off light comes on and so does my highbeams, after 3 seconds they turn off.

any ideas guys?

Only thing I can think of is that the "ABS OFF" lamp came on and seeing as this indicator light is immediately next to the "HIGHBEAM" lamp, some light leaked thru and partially illuminated the "HIGHBEAM". As it only happened for ~3 seconds and you were travelling at 60kph you probably only quickly scanned the dash and assumed both warning lights were on. Other than that I wouldn't have a clue - they are both on separate circuits drawing power from different fuses so in theory 'never the twain shall meet'.
