To those who pointed out that other versions of the 4L60E don't fit the VS you were indeed correct. The place I took my car to had brand new 4L60E in 9HLD and 4HND but you were completely correct. None of them fitted. They are trucking in a 7HDD today which should hopefully solve the problem.
I mentioned when I dropped the car off that I had heard(from here) that other versions did not just "slip in". They looked at me like I had two heads.
Thanks for the tip, I should have been more forceful(but needed the repairs done fairly quickly) when I dropped it off. Also the sticky about the loose alternator wire put me onto a problem just about to happen. Thanks again.
