All the videos that Anton makes are based on actual scientific papers that have been published. He finds interesting breakthroughs or topics to talk about. A major part of all those discussions is actual referenced peer reviewed information and of course he provides the sources.

A belief does not equate to a truth.

I didn't realise New Zealand was considered part of the Australian continent (scientifically speaking)
I always thought that NZ simply became two islands after the land mass broke away from Oz and drifred south over millions of years.

It also appears that the two islands of New Zealand and New Caledonia are actually the highest peaks or land mass of this sunken continent.
Surprising this sunken continent has only recently been discovered considering our advances in technology, we've been mapping the planet for decades with all kinds of scientific instruments.

So NZ has been upgraded from an island, to a continent :p

Nothing cool about it, it is the legend that Maori believe.....

This world cares not for science and facts, just whom ever has the best story!

It's funny how people from the Pacific and americas have stories of lost lands. The whole area would've been ground 13,000 years ago

I am finding it hard to work out which posts here are taking the piss, and which are fair dinkum.

With a little bit of ancient climate change/ global warming history, it is not hard to find out that 12,000 > 20,000 years ago, the Gulf Of Carpentaria was a fresh water lake fed by the QLD and PNG rivers, Montgomery Reef was a happy hunting ground for the Aboriginals of the time, and the Great Barrier Reef did not exist.
Willandra Lakes area was not a desert, and the change from wet to dry coincided with the last reversal of the Earth's magnetic poles. ( That does not mean that the world turned upside down. )
Legends and myths from handed down amongst local inhabitants over thousands of years have been found to be based on fact by scientific means.
Unfortunately, English words referring to Aboriginal dreaming and song lines, creates misunderstandings and ridicule..

That is why I get annoyed by 'the sky is falling' conspiracy theory'ists that think the present world was only invented in the 1800s, and who choose to disbelieve that ice ages and associated climate change is just part of life, the universe and everything.

A bit of travelling this great country educates you that the sun does not revolve around inner Sydney ( or Melbourne or Paris.)

Indeed.

Along similar lines....

One used to be able to walk from the current Perth coastline to Rottnest Island (some 20 kms away).

The Darling Scarp was once the coastline....meaning the whole of the Swan Coastal Plain (includes Perth) was once under water.

Not on the same scale but you used to be able to walk from Victoria to Tasmania. In 10,000 years time lands and coastlines will change and you will probably be able to do it again.
