I have been diggin abit lately finding out wot id need for a turbo set up i got some info on wot would be good on a budget so 2 speak.

I need to know if any of wot i say from here on is correct or can be done just going for wot i was told so far here goes.

Turbo Manifolds $2300 plus an extra 400 for the dump pipe thats a 3 bit kit with gaskets

Xr6 turbo injectors was told they go straight on from vn/vy?

internally gated T3/4 hybrid

uni chip as its cheaper to tune?

rising rate fuel regulator

bar map sensor if im not replacing the whole ECU

this was the main stuff i was told i needed have others writen down but wanted to know about these

any info would be great

i was told for around 6000-6500 i could do it all give or take alittle, mind u he said go on ebay an get most of it there cheaper new

Hey mate,

I would definately speak to VR_Clubby and hinterland on the forum. It will definately set you back at least 10.000 if you want to run decent boost. Standard compression combined with a turbo and it will crap itself. Also you will want to run an intercooler.

Just some advice.

yeh that was in the prices i got. which was said to be good for 9si as if u want more its best to do work but im only lookin for alittle not alot i wouldnt spend 10k on it for alittle psi.

for 5000-6000 i could get a chager bugger spending 10k if it was to cost that for alittle boost

this might make it abit easyer this is the email i got.

Option 1(internal wastegated turbo)
1. Turbo manifolds - 3pce manifold kit with gaskets- $2300
- dump pipe - $400
2. Turbocharger - internally gated T3/4 hybrid - monsta on ebay have
sum u could get for under $600

3. injectors - you can get xr6 turbo injectors of ebay that will fit
vn-vy v6 for under $400

4. rising rate fuel regulator - you can get these on ebay also - have
seen them for round $200

5. 2 bar map sensor (if not replacing whole ECU) - can get these from
capa for round $200

6. ECU retune - there are a couple options here, either u can go for a
retune of the standard ecu. this can be up to $500 but if u change ur mind or
need a retune you will have to fork out that again. or you can get a UNI
chip which is a piggy back ecu not a stand alone one. this means that if you
have an auto your std ecu will still cater for that and the unicuip will
only alter fuel ratios etc. these i have seen for round $400 bux on ebay and
it means you can tune it yourself or if u get it done professionally it
should cost you under $200 per time. the third option is if you have a manual
transmission you can go for a full replacement ECU like a wolf 3d or a
microtec, these can cost round 1200-1500 new or u can get them on ebay
for round 600-800. the only problem if you have to get someone to rewire
your engine loom to cater for the ecu and u can loose some functions. the
benifit of them is they are cheaper to have programmed and are faster computers and are able to handle more horsepower than the std ecu.

7. you will also need an exhaust shop to connect the dump pipe up to
your standard exhaust if it already big enough or if exhaust is standard it
will need to be upgraded to at least 2.5inch which can be put on quite
easily as my 2.5in cat back exhaust only cost me $170.

8. intercooler and piping - can get 600x300x75 intercoolers of ebay for
$175 and would need the pipework made to suit. depending on the amount u are looking to spend will determine the quality of pipework. for example
for $600 you could get a mild steel painted pipework where if you want full
polished aluminium pipework that will cost your bout $1500. i have the
ability to do the pipework for you and at these prices but most local
exhaust shops should be able to whip up some pipework for you.

9. BOV - optional - round $150 off ebay.

10. oil and water lines (depending on turbo type), oil lines shouldnt
cost more than $200 for braided lines and speedflow fittings, where if use
conventional oil lines then can get cheaper than that.

So using mainly ebay parts and a cheaper turbo and a unichip you would
be looking at around $6000 - $6500 for everything to turbocharge your car.
however this would depend on the ability for you to get the parts at
the prices estimated, you could easily get some parts cheaper and on the
other hand might settle more slightly more expensive parts, its up to you.

Option 2(external wastegate)
1. as above but add $200 to the turbo manifolds for the ext wastegated
option

2. external wastegate - an get them as cheap as under $100 up to $400 on ebay.

3. turbo - under $500 for the monsta T3/4 turbos up to $1500
for full ball bearing turbos.

Or for Paradox on a VN you can do.
Home made manifolds, 100 bucks
Rest of piping 100 bucks
2 bar map sensor, import from the states, 100$
decent used turbo with internal waste gate $400
used 28lb injectors 120 bucks
eprom burner for tune 70 bucks
Intercooler, wont need it with 6-8 psi, just run less spark and more fuel = free
In fact for 6 psi you could even get away with the stock map sensor!, it wouldn't be as nice as the 2 bar but very much easier to setup the tune.

Should be enough for 160-180 rwkw on a VN
