What are you classifying as excessive? I can't say I've noticed mine using much at all, I reckon I've put in perhaps 500ml since it's last service.

Nope. Haven't added oil in over 150,000km of driving these cars.

mine will go down slightly from full between services although never needed to add any as yet, have also noticed very slight leak around sump gasket which will keep an eye on..

I had Holden do a Oil Consumption test (basically fill it up and notify them if the warning comes on again. They check the amount consumed over the distance travelled and time frame.)
I had an oil warnings prior to my service interval starting at about 50K km's.
Holden ended up replacing the rings....they had the car for 10 days.
Don't know why but all ok now.
